The Knights Templar of England

The Magistral Priory of England is the largest and fastest-growing Templar Unit in England, comprising four Commanderies which cover the country from the Northern borders to the South coast.

These are:
The Commandery of the Shields, covering the North of England.

The Commandery of the Sword, covering East Anglia and the South East.

The Commandery of St Andrew and St George covering Greater London.

The Wessex Commandery covering Southern England and the West Country.

We are a non-political, non-denominational, ecumenical Christian organisation, dedicated to the defence of the church and supporting worthy charitable causes, in accordance with the Decalogue, with several major events annually including Luncheons, Dinners, Banquets and Investitures of new members.

We are closely associated with the Grand Priory of Scotland with whom we organise joint events in both countries.

All Christians of good standing over the age of sixteen years are welcome to apply to join us.

The Decalogue or Ten Commandments of Chivalry

1. Thou shalt believe in the Church and all her Commandments

2. Thou shalt defend the Church

3. Thou shalt respect all weaknesses and constitute thyself the defender of them.

4. Thou shalt love the country in which thou wast born.

5. Thou shalt never recoil nor retreat before the enemy.

6. Thou shalt make constant, ceaseless and merciless war against the infidel.

7. Thou shalt perform scrupulously thy feudal duties if they be not contrary to the Laws of God.

8. Thou shalt never lie and shall remain faithful to thy pledged word.

9. Thou shalt be generous and give largesse to all.

10. THOU SHALT BE EVERYWHERE AND ALWAYS THE CHAMPION OF THE RIGHT AND THE GOOD AGAINST INJUSTICE AND EVIL.
